ADAPT’s aim is to guide you through the intricate process of adopting either in Singapore or elsewhere in Asia. Right from the beginning of your journey we aim to save you time, unnecessary paperwork and from the stress that accompanies the adoption process. Depending on where you adopt from this process can take anywhere from 6 months to 18 months.  The following is a short summary of the main services we offer to prospective adoptive parents.  Please contact us for further information or to arrange a consultation.

Initial consultation

  • Initial consultation with you to determine country of adoption based on criteria including your nationality, preferred country of adoption, timeframes, family situation
  • Introduction to adoption agents/lawyers in the country of adoption (where possible)
  • Providing information on all required legal documentation from birth parents in order to complete visa/citizenship applications for your adopted child


Adoption in Singapore of Singapore citizen

  • Providing information on documentation required to complete MCYS (Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports) process
  • Providing information on the MCYS process including guiding you though the interviews, home visit and documentation essential to complete MCYS’s investigation.
  • Recommending adoption lawyers for your court processes – Singapore Adoption Order


Adoption in Singapore of foreign born child or Adoption of child in country of child’s birth

  • Assisting you to complete application to adopt (country specific)
  • Introduction to accredited Home Study Report (HSR) providers
  • Providing information on documentation required to commence HSR
  • Providing information on the HSR process including guiding you through the interviews and home visit
  • Providing information on application to MCYS for Dependants Pass to allow child to enter Singapore
  • Recommending adoption lawyers for court processes including and up to Singapore Adoption Order
  • Identification of adoptive child and adoption process
  • Acting as liaison contact between you and your chosen agent both during period of child identification and legal adoption process
  • Advising on suggested medical testing options available for your adoptive child
  • Reviewing and explaining all legal documentation and court process including adoption paperwork.
  • Providing information on compulsory coursework or seminar attendance required before adoption finalised.


Visa/Citizenship applications

  • While ADAPT cannot provide you with legal advice on visa/citizenship issues, we can provide relevant embassy contact details and information on documentation required and expected processes/timeframes.


External pre and post adoption assistance

  • Suggested reading materials on adoption
  • Introduction to Adoption Support Groups (both online and in person) in your home and adoptive countries
  • Single adoptive parent support group
  • Follow up consultations
  • Introductions to adoption counselling services
  • Providing information on newborn baby and mother care services available in Singapore
